RALEIGH, NC (May 31, 2007) – Stackpole Electronics, Inc. announces the addition of an 0201 chip size for their AL series of thin film high frequency inductors. Thin film inductors are ideal for applications or designs requiring tight inductance tolerance, tightly controlled SRF, and excellent stability over temperature. The AL series now has chip sizes from 0201, 0402, and 0603 with wide inductance range from .2 nH up to 100 nH. This series is capable of DC currents up to 800 mA and is capable of SRF’s above 14 GHz min.
Thin film inductors are made with a photolithographic process. This allows the manufacturer to maintain precise control of the inductance parameters critical to high frequency designs. Compared to other high frequency inductor types such as thick film multilayer inductors and wirewound inductors, thin film inductors offer the best reliability and repeatability along with the most precise control of tolerance, TC of inductance, and in turn SRF. Thin film inductors also have the ability to adjust certain characteristics to meet customers’ requirements.
Thin film inductors are an excellent choice for wide range of communications applications such as cell phones, and pagers, any GPS enabled device, or devices with an RF or Bluetooth link, as well as wireless networking devices.
The AL series is available in standard 7 inch tape and reel in quantities of 5K pcs for 0603 and 10K pcs for 0402 and 0201. Typical pricing for this series ranges from $30 - $50 per thousand for the 0201, $27 - $40 per thousand for 0402, and $45 - $55 per thousand for 0603, but is volume dependent. Typical lead times are stock to 10 weeks.
