STACKPOLE ELECTRONICS, INC. ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF THE HGC SERIES CHIP RESISTORS

RALEIGH, NC (October 22, 2008) - Stackpole Electronics, Inc. today announced the release of the HGC Series of precision thick film high resistance value chip resistors. This series utilizes the same fine line patterning found in Stackpole's award winning HVC series, but is optimized for precision high resistance values at a lower cost than the HVC. Applications for this part include voltage dividers for test instruments, meters, and monitoring equipment, voltage regulation modules and circuitry as well as gas detection, and liquid and airflow metering.

The new HGC Series uses a proprietary method of depositing the thick film resistance material on the ceramic substrate. This process yields a resistance element that is more stable, less noisy, and capable of much resistance values compared to other high resistance value chip resistors. Another benefit of using this deposition method is that it allows the use of lower ohms per square inks to achieve the high resistance values; lower ohmic value inks are much more readily available and are inherently more stable than the same ink in a higher ohmic value.

The HGC Series is available in sizes from 0402 up to 2512 and values from 1K up to 2 Teraohms. Tolerances provided by this series range from 20% down to .25% and TCR's range from 200 ppm down to 25 ppm. Tighter tolerances and lower TCR's are also possible for certain values. This series also has the same outstanding low VCR characteristics of less than 1 ppm per volt as in the HVC Series.

The HGC Series is available in standard tape and reel packaging on 7 inch reels. Pricing varies greatly with size, tolerance, TCR, and resistance value, but ranges typically from $0.50 each to around $4.00 each.
