LOW COST CSR / CSRN SERIES OF THICK FILM CURRENT SENSE CHIP RESISTORS FOR LOW BOARD TEMPERATURE REQUIREMENTS

RALEIGH, NC (April 21, 2009) - The CSR / CSRN Series of thick film current sense chip resistors are designed to offer a low cost solution for low resistance value requirements where high temperature operation and low TCR are less important. The inexpensive thick film technology provides TCR that is 200 ppm or better for most sizes and still is able to supply 1% tolerances as standard. This series is available in a wide variety of sizes from 0402 up to 2512 in standard EIA sizes, and also offers some unique sizes for end products that require high power density. The new 0815 size part is slightly larger than a standard 1206 yet offers a 1 watt power rating; similarly, the 1225 size chip offers a 3 watt power rating in a chip size normally capable of only 2 watts. Finally, the thick film resistive element is inherently moisture resistant due to its glasslike nature.

Thick film current sense resistors have become the most commonly used technology for many current sensing applications where the environmental conditions are less harsh such as all types of office equipment such as copiers, computers, monitors as well as communications and networking equipment, and even for some appliances and low power electric power tools.

The CSR / CSRN is available on standard 7 inch reels. Some sizes and resistance values may also be offered in 1K reels making them an outstanding choice to support quick turn shortages. Pricing varies with size, tolerance, and resistance value and ranges from around $0.03 each to $0.30 each in reel quantities; contact Stackpole for volume pricing. Over 150 part numbers in sizes 1206, 2010, and 2512 are currently in stock at Digi-key, with additional stock available from Stackpole directly.
